About Melissa O'Donnell
Born and raised in New York City, Melissa O’Donnell has worked in New York City restaurants consistently for over 20 years. In 2013, Chef Melissa O’Donnell opened Thelma on Clinton, a small plates restaurant with a menu reflecting the diversity of the Lower East Side. In keeping with her desire to provide an environment where people feel at home, Thelma on Clinton distilled and refined the best elements of Melissa’s previous restaurants - Stella, Salt, and Salt Bar. Salt opened in the summer of 2002. Salt built its reputation as one of the first farm to table restaurants in New York City and received many accolades for sourcing the best seasonal ingredients. Salt Bar, it’s LES outpost, was one of the cities first gastro-pubs and a destination for Beef Wellington. Thelma on Clinton was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2016 and 2017. She closed Thelma on Clinton in January 2017. Chef O’Donnell is looking forward to sharing the Lebanese cuisine of her upbringing with Lil’ Gem.
