About Derek Nacey
Derek Nacey is a Rochester, NY native who recalls that some of his favorite childhood memories are cooking with his mother. Derek took this love of cooking and enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Upon graduation in October of 1999, Derek relocated to Kansas City where he worked as a Sous Chef at Fedora’s on the Country Club Plaza. This is where he and Meghan first met. Derek left Fedora’s to work at a newly opened restaurant in the KC Crossroads area, Zin, in June of 2000. Derek has held the positions of Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef in some of the finest restaurants in Kansas City: Café Allegro, Zin, and Starker’s Reserve. Prior to opening Blvd Tavern, Derek was the Corporate Executive Chef for Houlihan’s Restaurant Inc. where he developed and helped implement new menu items for the three restaurants he oversaw: Houlihan’s, Bristol, and j. gilbert’s wood-fired steaks.
