About Seizi Imura

Seizi Imura learned sushi at his parents’ restaurant, Café Sushi, in Cambridge MA, but his dreams led him to The Academy of Art University in San Francisco where he studied illustration and fine art, and worked at award-winning Sushi Ran in Sausalito. After graduating from art school, Seizi worked full-time at Sushi Ran under Mitsunori Kusakabe who taught him how to infuse his passion for the visual arts into the culinary ones. It was a transformative experience. Under Kusakabe, Sushi Ran earned a Michelin star in 2006 and 2007 and in 2007 Imura, inspired, made the decision to return to Boston to take over his parents’ restaurant. At Café Sushi, Imura turned the neighborhood “dollar sushi” joint into one of the Boston’s area’s finest sushi experiences.
