About Aarthi Sampath

Aarthi Sampath started off by working with the Taj group in India in 2009. She gradually worked her way up to to the position of executive chef and went to work for the group in Orland, Florida, in 2013. She is the first Indian woman to have won the US cooking show Chopped, in 2016. She did a follow-up on another “Chopped” episode in which she got knocked out in the second round, but she rebounded with a victory on “Beat Bobby Flay” and served as guest judge on “Worst Cooks in America.” She was the chef de cuisine at the Michelin-starred Junoon in the Flatiron District and, up until February 2018, was sous chef for the estimable April Bloomfield at The Breslin in NoMad. She is currently in Seattle, where she launched a food truck, Kukree that combines her Indian heritage with her Asian cooking expertise. https://kukree.com/
