About Teresa Montaño
Teresa Montaño is the chef/owner of Los Angeles based restaurant, Otoño. Otoño represents Montaño’s progressive approach to Spanish cuisine. In Los Angeles’s Highland Park neighborhood, the restaurant offers a culturally inspired environ focusing on the flavors of Spain told through the sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, and unique tastes of L.A. As a California Art Institute culinary graduate, she joined the opening team of organic fast-casual concept Tender Greens in Culver City as a line cook. She continued that vein with a stage at Restaurant Nora in Washington, D.C.— the country’s first certified-organic restaurant—and went on to gain experience at L.A.’s Border Grill as a sous chef and as executive chef of COLORS in New York City, developing a locally sourced menu that garnered rave reviews. She returned to California in 2011 to open Ración in Pasadena, at which she cooked Spanish small plates and raked in critical acclaim—including positive reviews from Jonathan Gold, Amy Scattergood, Besha Rodell, and more; a place on L.A. Times’ “101 Best Restaurants” list for her entire tenure; and recognition from World’s 50 Best Restaurants Discovery Series. Before opening Otoño in 2018, she cultivated inspiration with extensive travels throughout Europe stopping in Copenhagen, Barcelona, and Valencia for research and opening pop-up concepts in Puglia, Italy.
