About Kirby Jacobs

I am a Floridian who moved to NYC in August. After graduating from the University of Michigan, I came to New York to work in finance. Unfortunately, i have a hectic schedule and am not able to spend as much time with my close friends as I would like. I have found that cooking has been a great way to not only wind down after work but be with friends as well. I have always enjoyed baking but have recently gotten more into cooking. I grew up in a food-obsessed family where our days usually revolve around meals. My mom would cook the most delicious holiday dinners and I am trying to carry on that tradition. I have been a vegetarian since I was much younger and my mom would always experiment with different vegetarian recipes. Now that I am living on my own, I enjoy doing this as well. When I find a restaurant that I love, I purchase the cook book from that restaurant if there is one (think Momofuko or The Meatball Shoppe). I hope to be able to bring my friends together for a traditional Friday night dinner while learning new recipes to please crowds of all different eaters. My favorite things to bake include banana bread, my mom's famous coffee cake, and desserts in mason jars. Some of my cooking specialties include pastas, eggplant parm and lentil soup.
