About Felipe Milanes
I was born and raised in Panama City, Panama. I moved to the United states in April of 2001; I originally came to study marketing, and my mom knowing that I loved food asked me if I wanted to go see a school where you can become a chef. I accepted and went for a one day trial at Stratford University, it was love at first sight. I have been a professional chef for the past 13 years and it only gets better and better. After I graduated from college I worked at great restaurants in DC: La Colline, Ardeo Bardeo, 2941 and Vidallia. After 6 year in DC I moved to Westchester NY and worked at the renowned restaurant Blue Hill at Stone Barns. After working a couple of years in fine dinning I decided to come back to DC where it had all started. I was lucky to find a great job at Zaytinya and cooked there for some time until I found my perfect match working for the Richard Sandoval group. I started at Masa 14, a Latina Asian small plate concept restaurant. After a couple of months they moved me to the new Toro Toro, Pan-Latin steak house. I love cooking but even more I love eating and feeding people, that great joy when you see your friends and family just smiling, laughing and having a good time making sure all they light up with all of the different tastes, textures and smells. I would like to invite you to meal of restaurant quality, served in a home with a family twist.
