About June Rodil

June Rodil is the beverage director of McGuire Moorman Hospitality, overseeing the wine, beer and spirits programs at eight of Austin’s most popular restaurants: June’s All Day, Jeffrey’s, Josephine House, Clark’s, Elizabeth Street Café, Perla’s, Lamberts Barbecue and the most recent opening, Pool Burger. Born in the Philippines and raised in Dallas, Texas, June is a Master Sommelier — only the seventh in Texas and the 23rd woman in the United States — after passing The Court of Master Sommelier’s rigorous test in 2015. June first came to Austin in 1998 to attend University of Texas and originally aimed for a career in law before turning her sights on food and drink. Her first restaurant gig was at Austin’s Driskill Grill, where she started as a server and quickly rose to sommelier after realizing her passion for wine. She then honed her craft at some of Austin’s most popular restaurants, including Uchi, Uchiko and qui before joining the McGuire Moorman Hospitality team in May of 2014. Outside of her work at MMH, June is an active board member of GuildSomm, TEXSOM, the Advisory Counsel for Atlanta Food & Wine and has been a speaker on panels for SXSW and Pebble Beach Food & Wine. As beverage director of McGuire Moorman Hospitality, June manages the diverse wine, beer and spirits programs at the group’s eight restaurants: everything from sourcing new Burgundies to pair with Jeffrey’s expertly-grilled steaks to selecting rosés and sparkling wines meant to be enjoyed on Perla’s shady outdoor patio. In July 2016, June and McGuire Moorman Hospitality opened June’s, a neighborhood café on South Congress Avenue, which was named to Food & Wine Magazine’s “Best New Restaurants” list in May 2017. June uses her namesake restaurant as a playground for serving her favorite hard-to-find wines with an emphasis on Champagne and sparkling wines from around the world. The reserve list changes monthly and is showcased in a hand-drawn Wine Zine with rotating themes to help make wine more educational, less intimidating and fun. In October 2017, June and McGuire Moorman Hospitality introduced their first private label wine called June’s Brut Rosé, which they created in collaboration with Austrian winemaker Markus Huber. Available by the bottle and glass at all eight restaurants, the sparkling rosé is the ideal wine for Austin’s year-round patio weather.

Behind the Scenes

"Some amazing photos by @hilarymurphyphotography of our time in Austria with our winemaker #MarkusHuber and our friends. We really did have as much fun as it seems. Thanks for showing such honesty in the shots, Hilary! So amazing. Stay tuned for #junesrosé 2.0! - #austrianwine #mmhbevclass . . . PS I did some pruning for our Pinot Noir, and, while I did it pretty accurately, I probably would have been on that hill for about a week if I had to do it by myself. I’d make for a shit viticulturalist"

"Donuts & Babes. Scenes from yesterday’s brekkie hosted by @junesallday & @westbourne —thanks to the amazing lady leaders of their industry who popped by to be in great company with each other. The energy, warmth, and inspiration in the room was tangible! [and this plate of decadence was worth it] #junesallday #ladypowerbreakfast #sxsw2018"

"Family style meals; family style wines. . . . . Cheers to this lovely memory: Tis the season to celebrate and I recently got to do so with a table full of colleagues filled with rack of lamb, foie sandies, lamb tartare, broccolini, and more --all paired with #winesofprovence. The wines were as diverse as our personalities and paired well throughout all the flavors of our meal. They exhibited versatility, affordability, and were pretty damn delicious. #mastersofrosé #tbt #cruclassé"
