"Finishing with a little extra virgin will bring home the voluptuous in your guacamole. Bonus points if you are taking it to the beach. #tipsfromcostarica"

"What a whirlwind year it has been! We opened @vandalnewyork about a year and a half ago after a taking a trip around the world exploring global food culture. Our vision was to bring our culinary excursion home to the #LowerEastSide added with our own creative flare. Since the opening, we've opened @beautyandessexlv and @beautyessexla, I’ve filmed countless episodes of #Chopped, and released my debut cookbook, SHARE. My book is filled with some of my favorite recipes I now want to SHARE with you at Vandal. Your favorites are staying but get excited for major additions to the menu starting TONIGHT!  I invite you to make your reservations and experience something new.  See you soon!"

Chef Josh Capon reviews Kobe Philly Cheesesteak at The Stanton Social
$$$ | Spanish/Portuguese
Lower East Side

"The reason I hate cheesesteak is the reason I love the cheesesteak at this small-plates spot on the Lower East Side: shaved kobe beef instead of some bad top round, quality cheese instead of Whiz, and a great baked bun instead of some old loaf. It's the perfect size, instead of a foot long."
Chef Josh Capon reviews Tomato tartare at Beauty & Essex
$$$ | Wine Bar
Lower East Side

"I know—tomato tartare in a world of tuna and steak tartares?! Trust me. Chris Santos takes tomatoes to a whole other level. Each individual portion is topped with a perfectly cooked quail egg. It's so tasty, you will probably order another round! Round it out with some chicken fried oysters, lobster pizza, a very tasty burger, and some killer doughnuts for dessert. Don't be fooled by the pawn shop entrance; walk on through and you will find a beautiful restaurant and a great meal to follow."
