Lengua tacos
"I am lucky because I work across the street from this taco stand. There is a line around the block, and for good reason. They use great tortillas, and the tacos are garnished simply with onions, cilantro, and a lime wedge. My favorite is the lengua. These are traditional street tacos the way they should be served."
Elotes
"Sure, the tacos are the real deal—I don’t buy tacos where people speak a lot of English. But it’s the elotes sold from the cart in the shadow of the awning that rules! He shucks the corn to order, hits the chile hard, and never stops smiling and making small talk. For his fifth birthday, my son wanted the 'corn man' (no chile on his, please). It’s only a few bucks, so give the guy a five and tell him to keep the change! He is a hard-working man!"
Tacos al pastor
"Obviously being in Dallas there's a ton of great Mexican food, but my go-to is El Si Hay. You can't even call it a hole in the wall because there's no adjacent building; it's just a tiny, little stand-alone shack where everything is counter service and done to-go, but it's really authentic and delicious. I always go for the tacos al pastor."
