Phở chín bò viên
"The fresh bánh mì bread was the original reason I started going to Dong Phuong Restaurant. Now I always stop and have the phở with beef and meatballs, and then get a couple of bánh mì with Vietnamese sausage to take home with me."

"Of all the Vietnamese bakeries in the city, their bread is my favorite. They make their own chicken liver mousse spread and mayonnaise. $3 will get you fresh jalapeños, radishes, slightly pickled carrots, cilantro, their freshly baked bread, and whatever meat you want. I think the price ranges from $2.50 to $4 for a full sandwich, which is just out of control. I like the bánh mì with Chinese meatballs; they’re really unattractive looking things with black mushrooms, but the sandwich is great."

"Slices of roasted pork, pork terrine, pork headcheese, pork liver mousse, mayonnaise (made with pork fat), crispy pork skin, pickled carrots, cucumbers, jalapeños, and cilantro all come together to form the best sandwich ever! The flaky crust of the soft French roll and the creamy, crispy fillings make this sandwich a whole meal."

"Once again, simple and fresh ingredients make long-lasting memories. These Vietnamese crêpes are packed full of fresh herbs, pork, shrimp, and turmeric, which turns them a yellowish color. They are cooked in oil with high heat that gives them a crispy texture on the outside and gooey texture within, and then they are served with herbs, lettuce wraps, and nước mắm (fish sauce)."
