About Chris Massad
Chris Massad is the sushi chef at Akiko's restaurant. He was born in Colorado, however he grew up all over the world — from Texas to the Middle East and finally to Tokyo. When he returned home, he applied at a sushi restaurant for extra money and befriended the chefs by buying them beer, and he has been making sushi ever since.

"Every item of this spontaneous menu is delicious. The star of the meal for me is the live spot prawn nigiri. The fried head, which is presented a few minutes after the tail, is particularly delicious."

"I go here about once a week. We all have our vices, and this is not a bad one. What to have? The omakase sushi. Put away your old perception of sushi and surrender to chef Ricky and his staff. If they have Hokkaido or Russian uni, you're in for a treat."

"Akiko's has excellent rice and the best fish selection around."

"The one thing I missed about LA was the sushi, but Akiko's is just as good as anything I have had there. Sit at the bar, relax, and let the talented chefs feed you (I like Ricky, but they are all super talented)."
Live sea urchin & caviar

"This is amazing. Owner Ray Lee is one of the most dedicated people in this business. The man is obsessed with quality and he will spend whatever time it takes to put the best on the plate. This is proof: sweet, briny sea urchin topped with caviar."
