Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House

The Story:Expert/Chef Zeng Feng Zhang of Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House has been keeping the labor intensive art of hand-made Chinese noodles and rich bone broths alive for decades in this specialty spot that graces the lips (and bellies) of our Experts.

What to Eat: Expert/Chef Joey Chmiko has a story to go with his favorite dish, Pork Soy Sauce Noodles: “When I first found this joint, I asked them if I could work there to see if I would be able to make hand-drawn noodles. They let me trail them for a week, but it was mostly just me watching them and getting in the way while they laughed at me. The noodles are made-to-order and everything is tasty, but the soy sauce-braised pork is my favorite. It's like a Chinese bolognese!" Expert/Chef Han Chiang is all about their noodle soups “There's nowhere else in town where six bucks gets you freshly made noodles in a broth as delicious as this Chinatown soup shop's. There are several varieties served in minutes; my favorite is the oxtail.”

What to Drink: The broth, straight from your bowl once your noodles are gone, tea, and soft drinks.

The Vibe: A straight-ahead noodle house with lovely wood accenture and table service.
