CITY GUIDES | Seattle with Chef Cameron Hanin

The essential noodles, pizza, and bits of old Seattle to put on your list for your next visit.

Chef Cam Hanin has 14+ years in the restaurant industry, notably working as the executive chef for Mark Fuller Restaurants. Recently, he did what we all wish we could do, stepped back to run Guerilla Pizza Kitchen,  a Seattle-based pizza pop-up, full time. Go Cam! Here's what this Seattle pizza pro puts on his starting line up.

BREAKFAST

The Mecca Cafe:  There are not a whole lot of places to get steak and eggs and a bloody mary from a queer, punk bartender in this city anymore. The spirit of old Seattle lives on. Plus they have a weird plastic doll collection somewhere in the corner that's pretty creepy and awesome.

The Bay Cafe in Fisherman's Terminal: An old school Greek style cafe. You can mingle with the local fishermen and dock workers, hang out afterward and watch the water. They've got that weird lemon meringue pie that's more jello than curd and always put too much redi-whip on my sons hot chocolate but that's why we go there.

Musang brunches. Once she gets her brick and mortar up and running, lookout, Melissa is about to do big things.

LUNCH

By Tae: Sun I love you. A little handroll and sushi counter that does a few seatings a day for lunch. Sun will drink sake with you at 11am unprompted. It has kind of become the local industry hang out. You always run into someone you know.

Le Pichet: It's an institution at this point. I'll never tire of eating the broiled ham, eggs and gruyere slathered in so much mustard it makes my eyes bleed. The butter lettuce salad is a classic and they have the best chicken liver mousse in the city.

DINNER

Bar Del Corso: This might be the best Neopolitan pizza in the city. The staff is super nice, and they've just been doing it a long time now and it's always good and consistent.

Reckless Noodle: I haven't met the chef but she is 25? 26? Regardless, she's a powerhouse. The wok noodles are a go-to. It's a super unassuming space, come as you are, the staff is great, food and vibes are there, just a really awesome new spot in the city.

San Fernando Roasted Chicken on Rainier: Peruvian roasted chicken and fries. It's always so good and the green sauce is amazing. Super warm and hospitable owners. The ceviche is a sleeper. I love this place.
