With the summer heat on (even in notoriously foggy SF!) we wanted to cool you down with these chef-picked ice cream scoops, sundaes, shaved Italian ice, ice cream milkshakes, and popsicles.

Atlanta:

"The sea salt used in this dish really balances out the caramel and keeps your mouth wanting more," says chef Todd Richards of The Shed at Glenwood about the salted caramel ice cream at Morelli's Gourmet Ice Cream.

Boston: 

The mint chocolate chip ice cream at Commonwealth is "the best mint chocolate chip ice cream I've ever had" according to chef Tim Maslow of Strip-T's and Ribelle.

Chicago:

Italian ice at Freddy's Pizzeria is "really unbelievable," says chef Jimmy Bannos Sr. of The Purple Pig.

Denver:

The ice cream from Sweet Action Ice Cream is so good chef Jenna Johansen of Epicurean Catering says: "It wouldn't be right if I picked just one favorite. Every single flavor is delicious!"

Miami:

The potato chip and sea salt caramel ice cream sandwich at Coolhaus is chef Kurtis Jantz of Bella Beach Club's "favorite combination" of "sweet and salty."

New York:

Chef Brooks Headley of Del Posto says the homemade Madagascar vanilla soft serve ice cream at Takashi is "flat-out killer."

New Orleans:

The ice pops at Meltdown are chef Tenney Flynn of GW Fins's favorite because "all of their ingredients are organic and the owner always has a lot of really wonderful, interesting flavors." 

Philadelphia:

Chef Brian Ricci of Kennett will risk his life for a scoop of the black raspberry and maple-walnut ice cream at The Franklin Fountain. He says: "Market Street could be on fire; I'm not moving until I finish my ice cream."

Portland:

Chef Jason McLeod of Craft & Commerce "can't get enough" of the ice cream at Salt & Straw, especially his favorites like "Grandma Malek's almond brittle with salted ganache and the coffee and bourbon."

San Francisco:

The Italian shaved ice at Merigan Sub Shop sends Nojo chef Greg Dunmore back to his childhood saying the "lemon shaved ice reminds me of summertime as a child back east."

Seattle:

Chef Jennifer Shea of Trophy Cupcakes says the boysenberry Hot Lips Soda ice cream float from Bottlehouse is "just a like cold boysenberry pie à la mode. You’ve got to try it!"
