Adam Tortosa at Robin

Chef Adam is the chef/owner of the soon-to-open Robin in Hayes Valley, San Francisco. He first learned the ropes working alongside master chefs in Los Angeles. Before opening his own restaurant, he worked in 1760 but returned to his sushi roots, spending a year and a half at Akiko's, one of the city's best sushi restaurants, while creating Robin's concept and finding a space.

Where I Eat

Behind the Scenes

Chef Adam Tortosa reviews at
Chocolate banana almond croissant
"I live across the street from them and it is a blessing and a curse. This is the best pastry shop I have EVER been to. Everything is great here, you can't go wrong."
Chef Adam Tortosa reviews at
Lobster panzerotti
"I could eat these all day; they are just delicious. Chef Suzette knows flavors and has created a timeless dish that I will always crave."
Chef Adam Tortosa reviews at
Five spice chicken
"It's cash only but you don't need a lot. A super sweet, bad ass lady works the grill and whole restaurant by herself. She makes killer, cheap grilled chicken."

Fried chicken sandwich
"This is the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. I will drive out to Oakland for it, and I hate driving."
Chef Adam Tortosa reviews at
Lobster coral xiao long bao
"This is the best restaurant I have ever been to—it's that simple. There is so much talent and restraint in every dish, it's insane. I'm jealous. I love the xiao long bao on the tasting menu."

"The one thing I missed about LA was the sushi, but Akiko's is just as good as anything I have had there. Sit at the bar, relax, and let the talented chefs feed you (I like Ricky, but they are all super talented)."
