"The whole Midwestern, retro vibe instantly appealed to the born-in-Illinois kind of guy I am. When you call something a “Chicago Dog,” it's not up to some 20-something Top Chef wannabe to get, as we would say at Wrigley, cutesy. This recipe came down before the first Richard Daley was bossing Alderman around, and contains sport peppers, something not known before in the 305. I also love the Italian beef here, and yes, it has Giardiniera relish—c’mon!"
