About Cheetie Kumar

Garland is the passion project of chef and rock guitarist, Cheetie Kumar. Located in downtown Raleigh, it’s seasonally driven menu is influenced by the flavors of India and Asia, with locally sourced ingredients reinvented with a distinctly Southern flair. It’s extensive menu of approachable creations features innovative and delicately prepared dishes that are truly unique, and paired with delicious seasonal cocktails and an adventurous wine menu.

"*sensory overload fabrics at Mangaldas Market *Gateway to India- an ancient, massive and busy port *BIRDS! * Chicken Salli Boti- part of a complete breakfast- Parsi style *Govt issued jigger- the Indian govt gives licensed bars new jiggers every year to ensure a proper pour! (I tried in vain to get one) The last two pictures didn’t upload 😕"

A day to remember- a visit to
"A day to remember- a visit to dad’s hometown of Ambala and a lovely lunch with friends of his family. Fluffy, light dhokla and warm paneer w/ spices. Incredible hand woven fabrics from @#nofilter needed...stunning! Then to my childhood home and emotional memories of cooking with my grandmother and mother and the house I never thought I would get to set foot in again. A very kind family welcomed us in as though we were kin. So grateful for this day"

"So much of the same stuff is in season back in NC but I haven’t seen an older gentleman selling crispy chickpeas and peanuts w/ jaggery on a bicycle in Raleigh. Plus loquat!!! (And look at the color of those carrots. They’re like candy)"
