About Alyssa Wolf

Alyssa founded Red Wolf Imports with her husband, Ian, in 2015, after a trip to South Africa revealed that the most exciting wines from the region were not available to consumers in the United States. Alyssa started her professional career as a physical therapist. After eight years practicing, she finally answered the call of the the wine industry. She has built their business, in large part, connecting via social media with wholesalers, retailers, restaurateurs, and consumers. She’s organically grown the social media following of her small, regional wine import business from zero to over 5,000 nationwide followers and counting. Alyssa lives and operates in the Washington, D.C. region with her cat, Pickles, and Ian.

Behind the Scenes

Summer in a dish. Sunchoke
"Summer in a dish. Sunchoke Veloute at @gravitasdc. What wine would you pair with a dish like this: poached lobster, fennel marmalade, green apple brown butter powder?"

It's an experience, a lifestyle, something you can share with family, friends, and strangers. @chef_mbaker's menu selecting 4-7 courses (wine pairings as an option of course). Experience it for yourself if you can, and check out our pages for more posts to come! Pictured: tasting of summer mushrooms."

A year older, but not a bit

Continuing with our pinot noir
"Continuing with our pinot noir posts (we're feeling mysterious - get it "noir") here's another South African pinot that will surprise you. With grapes from Stellenbosch @ernstgouws_wine uses natural fermentation in open top fermenters for their 2016 pinot noir. That warm climate fruit shows, but so does that characteristic smokiness you see in some wines. Pairs beautifully with charcuterie and grilled meats. Vegetarian? Try to portobello burger. Yum. Learn more on our new website - click the link in the bio."
