Tiger!Tiger!

The Story: With almost 160 microbreweries, perhaps the only thing San Diegans take as seriously than their tacos is their beer. Located in the happening North Park neighborhood, Tiger!Tiger! gets our Experts’ vote for best brewpub in SD. Opened in 2011 by the owners of Blind Lady Alehouse, it has since become a favorite hang spot amongst locals and savvy visitors.

What to Eat: The kitchen at Tiger!Tiger!  turns out food designed to pair with beer. The Banh Mi, Pacific Varietal Oysters, and House Made Sausage plates all get high marks from our Experts.

What to Drink: With a custom tap system and a dedication to cleaning each line between kegs, you can sample a rotating selection of local specialty acts from breweries like Fall, Automatic, and NPBC. They also pair guest DJ’s with guest breweries, so make sure to check their calendar for what’s on.

The Vibe: A hip neighborhood brewpub, with vintage fixtures and bicycles hung from the wall and a dog-friendly patio.

When to Go: No two nights are the same at Tiger!Tiger! so if you’re the planning type (a distinct possibility if you’re reading this list) check their website for what’s on tap and who’s spinning vinyl that week. Open from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. during the week, 11 p.m. on the weekends, Tiger!Tiger! is the sort of place you can roll into solo and come out of with a whole new group of friends.

Bread & Cie

The Story: Bread & Cie opened in the Hillcrest neighborhood in 1994 and continues to be the leading baker of hand-formed, European-style artisan bread and pastries in the San Diego area. Their hearth deck oven was imported from France - and produces their irresistibly toothsome baked loaves of bread and pastries.

What to Eat: the Breakfast Pizza with Eggs, Bacon, and Parmesan, then Roast Beef Sandwich on Sourdough with Horseradish Cream and Orange Marinated Red Cabbage, and buttery Palmier cookies are all must-tries according to our experts.

What to Drink: Espresso, Cappuccino, beer and wine.

The Vibe: A high ceilinged neighborhood bakery and café.

When to Go: Open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Bread & Cie is a great place to start off your day, or stop in for special treats to bring to a friend’s house.
